OFFICIAL CHILI RULES SHEET
WELCOME TO THE (AECF) CHILI COOKOFF
Chili should look good, smell good, and taste good! Accordingly, each cup of chili is to be judged on five (5) criteria to arrive at one whole number score of 1 to 10, with 10 being the highest. The five criteria are:
Your team can only chose from 2 chili type categories to enter in this contest.
Our chili categories are:
Each cook off team is only (5) people teams,
Things the judges will be doing to judge the chili
TURN IN TIMES - Each meat category turn in time will allow for a 10 minute window, that is 5 minutes before and 5 minutes after the time as suggested below:
Thursday, July. 5th ( Will be announced ) 2:00pm
Friday, July. 6th ( Will be announced ) 2:00pm
Saturday, July. 7th ( Will be announced ) 2:00pm
Sunday, July. 8th Awards presentation 6:00pm on stage #
Monday, July. 9th - clean up day – End of event
Tuesday load out day for everyone

- AROMA
- COLOR
- CONSISTANCY
- TASTE
- AFTER TASTE

- A) Mild
- B) Medium
- C) Hot
- D) 3 alarm hot
- E) Sweet
- F) Meaty
- G) Spicy
- H) Thick
Each cook off team is only (5) people teams,
Things the judges will be doing to judge the chili
- Judges will judge each chili on its own merit. Make a decision the first time because the chili cannot be re-tasted
- Use a new spoon for each time they taste one.
- Pacing themselves because they will have several chilies to judge.
- Cleanse their palates between tasting each different chili.
- Place a score on the score sheet blank, which corresponds to the judging number marked on the exterior of the cup they are judging. and they will keep their score sheet folded when not entering scores.
- They will not talk to their fellow judges about chili or compare notes or scores during the judging. If they do, they will be asked to leave the judging area and their score sheet will be disregarded.
- When done, their scores sheet will be tallied for correctness and legibility. The scores from the judges will determine the winners.
- If you they have FOOD ALLERGIES, they will not try certain types of chili and advise their table monitor.
